Why choose a canister over an upright?
Stairs (you carry 6 lb, not 16), hard floors (no beater-bar scatter), drapes and above-floor work, and generally quieter operation. Uprights still win on deep carpet convenience.
Are Miele vacuums worth the price?
For most homes, yes: sealed filtration that actually seals, motors rated for decades, and parts availability that measured against any appliance. The catch is proprietary bags.
Bagged or bagless canister?
Bagged remains the allergy gold standard — you never touch the dust. Bagless saves bag money but the emptying moment releases fine particles.
What does 'powerhead' mean?
An electrically driven brush head for carpets. Air-driven (turbo) heads are lighter and quieter but weaker — choose electric if you have wall-to-wall carpet.
